Case for Optimism is a collaboration devised and delivered by Teo Greenstreet, Hilary Jennings and Lucy Neal. The development of their practice brings together a considerable breadth of experience over 33 years, gained from engagement in the arts cultural and sustainability sectors:
- significant pedigree in using arts practice in social change - Lucy as cofounder of London International Festival of Theatre, Teo as co-founder the Circus Space and subsequently creating participatory arts events with a range of cultural and social change agents including Arts Admin, Encounters, Battersea Education Forum and development of the Taking Up Space Manifesto.
- extensive experience in a variety of facilitative practices, training including Joanna Macy’s Practices to Reconnect, Schumacher College Ecological Facilitation for leaders, Natural Change (World Wildlife Foundation), Marking The Moment, (Welfare State) Transition Training, Mediation and Action Learning Facilitation.
– Lucy and Hilary are founder co-chairs of Transition Town Tooting and leading Transition Network thinking on arts and culture and practice as producers of the Tipping Point commissioned Trashcatchers’ Carnival and the Transition Tooting Shop.
– Fellow of the Clore Leadership programme (Teo) and short course Alumni (Hilary). Hilary worked extensively as Associate of Cultural Leadership Programme (CLP) on a range of initiatives; Lucy involved in CLP Taking Up Space and CLP/British Council International Cultural Leadership. Teo has lead three sustainability events for the Clore short course programme.
– The team link across many sectors through membership of groups including WWF’s Common Cause, Mission Models Money’s (re)think Community of Practice, NEF’s Great Transition project, Transition Town’s Training Group, Happy Museum Project, Alumni Schumacher college, Clore and CLP.
– Authors of the Sustainable Ability report (commissioned by MMM/PHF), Technologies of Foolishness (commissioned by NESTA/Clore), forthcoming book Playing For Time, and Transition to a Green Economy: implications for Leaders (Business Leadership Review).
The project features expert guest input including: Paul Allen, External Relations Director Centre for Alternative Technology, Peter Lipman Chair Transition Network and Director of Policy for Sustrans; Professor Tim Lang, Professor of Food Policy at City University; Dr Calvin Jones, Economist Cardiff University. Guests will be identified locally where ever possible.
